· Benign tumors add –OMA to tissue of origin
o Example: adenoma, lipoma
· Adeno- tumors from glandular epithelium, origin included
· Squamous- tumors from squamous epithelium
· Sarcomas- originate in connective tissue
o Osteo- bone
o Chondro- cartilage
o Lipo- fat
o Rhabdo- skeletal muscle
o Leiomyo- smooth muscle
· Leukemias- hemopoietic cells
o Lympho- lymphoid origin
o Myelo- myeloid origin
· Lymphoma- lymphocytes
